Your Off Season Routine

If you are a golfer that lives in the northern part of the United States, you are facing one of the grimmest facts about living there.  The end of the golf season is not far off.  Unfortunately the cold temperatures and snow will force you off the links and away from your golf game.

Now if you are one these individuals what is your approach to the “off season”?  There are two different avenues that you can make your way down.  The first is that you simply put your clubs into retirement, and wait until the warmth of spring to inspire you to get out and practice.  There is one fundamental problem with this.  You are essentially going to head into spring with a very small skill set.  You swing will be rusty, and inconsistent.  Your short game will likely be non-existent.  And your putting, well you can forget about that too.  It is very likely that you will be well through the season before you start feeling as though your short game is coming into form.  What a waste of your potential.

Secondly, you can be an actively practice through the winter.  What, how can that be.  There are things that you can do, so that when you get the chance to get back on the course, you don’t feel completely lost.  You can keep your putting touch by going back and forth on the carpet in your living room.  Want to practice your chipping, there is nothing that can keep you from attempting to chip at a pillow laying on the floor.  Unless your spouse is really opposed for fear of damaging the furniture or breaking a family heirloom.  Stand in front of a mirror to check and adjust your set up positions.  The possibilities truly are endless of what and how you can practice and remain in your peak golf form.

So now that you shouldn’t have any excuses about your golf game come spring time, I will hold high expectations for you.
