These Kids Just Keep Getting Better

Wow!  That is all that you need to say when you look at what Tianlang Guan just accomplished.  I’m sure most of you aren’t following is going on in Asia’s golf circuit, but this young man just won the Asia-Pacific Amateur.  Why is this so amazing you ask?  He is only 14 years old and with this victory, he just earned an invitation to The Masters.  Yup, this kid is heading to Augusta in April and when he tees it up there he will become the youngest player to ever compete in the great tournament.

If you don’t follow these blogs on a regular basis, I will reference you back to the article I wrote titled “How Talented Are These Kids?’ from August 29, 2012.  In the article I was referencing Lydia Ko who was a 15 year old young lady who had just won on the LPGA Tour.

What is mind blowing to me is the fact that there are veterans on both the LPGA and PGA Tours that have been competing on those respective tours longer than these kids have been alive.  And haven’t had the success these youngsters are creating.  It is astonishing that players that are so young have the ability to win these tournaments.

Now I’m not referencing that they are young and questioning their physical ability.  What ponders me is how mentally tough these youngsters are.  To have the mental capacity and nerves to win amongst more experienced players, and with the rewards that are on the line is extraordinary.  People will say that these kids play “with no nerves” or are “fearless”, but you can’t tell me that they don’t feel pressure and have nerves tingling through their bodies.

What they have done is what we should all try to accomplish.  No, I don’t mean win a tournament that will get you into The Masters…even though that would be great.  What I’m referring to is building a repeatable golf swing.  These two juniors have spent countless hours practicing, and building great all around golf games.  We should learn from our youth.  Practice will make you a better player!
