Put Some Excitement In Your Golf

Do you find that you are playing the same course over and over again?  You hit the same clubs on the same holes more often than not?  Try adding some excitement to your rounds of golf by putting some variety in the course you play.

Move forward from you usual tee markers, and don’t use any woods off of the tee.  This will put an emphasis on hitting your long irons and keeping the ball in play.  You will also find that you are going to be hitting longer iron shots into the greens.  Helping you work on both your mid irons, and probably your short game as a result of missed greens.

The next round of golf play, the same forward tees, but keep using your driver and fairway woods from the tee.  This will now put an emphasis on short irons.

Now you can move back a tee.  This will make you definitely put more emphasis on your short game.  Having to hit longer shots into the greens will undoubtedly result in more missed greens than usual, forcing you to get the ball up and down to shoot a good score.

Finally, make a game for yourself from your usual tee markers.  Play a game called “Worst Ball”.  In this game you are playing a scramble, but instead of playing the better shot, you play the worse shot.  Hit two balls from the tee, pick the worse of the two.  Playing from this spot, you will again hit two shots picking the worse.  Keep doing this until you able to hole your putt with both balls on the putting green.  Don’t obsess about your score when playing this game…a scratch golfer will have a difficult time breaking 80.  But what is great about playing this way is that you will focus very intently on every single swing.  You don’t want to leave yourself in a bad situation, and you are going to do everything in your power to keep this from happening.

Don’t become melancholy by playing the same course, from the same tees all of the time.  By putting some variety in your golf game, you will be working on skills that you otherwise might neglect.   Keep you golf game sharp and have fun doing it!
