Keep Fighting

Many have heard “Don’t ever give up”, “Keep on fighting”, or “Stay positive.”  That is much easier said than done…especially in golf.  But for anyone that was watching the US Open today were able to see the results of keeping a positive attitude.  Ken Duke hit a tee shot on the wrong side of a bush, and with no other option than to hit his ball sideways and into a bunker, he didn’t let it get him down.

Most golfers, if they were put in that position would get angry or frustrated, and then typically hit the next shot poorly, only resulting in an even higher score.  But Ken Duke didn’t let his misfortune get the best of him.  Instead, he stayed positive and holed the bunker shot to save his par.

“I really had no chance to hit it forward to the hole,” Duke said after the round. “I could have gone to the right, but if I hit it a little bit harder it might have rolled down the hill. So my caddie and I decided to hit it in the bunker, I’m a pretty good bunker player … Sometimes you do the right thing and it pays off and it works out, which is good.”

So remember, in golf, you will have misfortunes happen.  There is nothing you can do about it, but to stay positive and keep playing your best.  Maybe the next time you find yourself in a tough spot your outcome will make the highlight reel!
